Our story & coaches
A community gym where athletes build skills, confidence and lifelong friendships.
Our story
Sky Athletics began its journey in May 2019. Owner Skyler Burchinal started the gym inside Paris's Family Fun Center, with Amanda Phillips as our first coach, offering tumbling and cheer classes for ages 3 and up plus a traveling competition team.
We've grown a lot since then. Today Sky is an all-star cheer and tumbling gym at 6590 Lamar Rd in Reno, with eight all-star teams, tumbling classes from Mommy & Me to Advanced, private lessons, birthday parties, camps and school-break childcare.
Through it all, Sky has been about community: families who travel to competitions together, cheer each other on and rally when one of our own needs help.

What we believe
From a first forward roll to a twisting pass, athletes progress at the pace that's right for them.
Skills are broken into steps and built on solid technique before moving up.
We celebrate effort, team pride and the towns our families come from.

Owner / Coach
Amanda has been part of competitive cheerleading since 2006. She cheered in college, coached all through high school and college, and always dreamed of turning what she loved into her career. Now she lives that dream every day as an owner and coach at Sky. Amanda loves her athletes and pushes them to succeed in everything they do, not just in cheerleading but in life.
